Feel
like taking a step back in time? Plan on attending the Georgia
Renaissance Festival in Fairburn. This is one of the premier
events in the Southeast and will be held from April 26 through
June 8, 2003. Explore this 16th Century European County
Faire where you can mingle with costumed characters amid
the backdrop of Tudor homes and period cottages. Stroll
through over 150 booths and view arts and crafts at their
best. See nationally acclaimed artisans demonstrate skills

blacksmithing,
weaving and pottery. Visitors of all ages will delight in
watching and interacting with jugglers, jousters, magicians,
dancers and comedians from that era. This event, according
to spokesperson, Sarah Rutledge, continues to grow every
year. "Last year 150,000 people attended the annual event,"
she says.
Another
event that draws people from miles around each year is the
Great Georgia Airshow. Have you ever experienced the excitement
of an airshow where you crane your neck skyward to see incredible
aerobatics and vintage planes? Do you like to literally
get a "feel" for an event? Well hang on! Here you'll feel
your tummy rumble and your chest vibrate as high-powered
jets soar across the horizon. You'll also have the opportunity
to walk around the grounds and see the planes up close and
personal. Ready to go? This annual event is held in September
at Falcon Field in Peachtree City. You can volunteer to
help with one of the greatest airshows in Georgia through
their website.
Looking
for family fun? Look no further than Fayetteville's Dixieland
Fun Park, South Atlanta's largest family amusement park.
You're sure to find something you'll enjoy. Try navigating
a bumper boat, playing a round of laser tag, maneuvering
a go-kart or testing your skill in the batting cage. There's
something for everyone including mini-golf, an indoor playground
and an arcade. Do you need to have a birthday party for
your child but don't want to deal with the mess? Dixieland
can take care of all the details, including a private party
room. They can also host corporate outings, banquets and
organizational meetings.
Local
theatre groups provide first-class plays throughout the
year. Some acting groups and theatres you will want to experience
are Fairburn's Southside Theatre Guild, Newnan Theater and
the Endowment of the Arts for Fayette County. Attend a show
or consider auditioning to get in the fun.

Don't
miss out on local parades, plays, concerts, festivals, art
shows, and other community
activities. The Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville
and the Frederick Brown Amphitheater in Peachtree City have
filled up their calendars with entertainment for the upcoming
year.
Are
you the athletic type? Be there for the annual Peachtree
City Classic Road Race held each October. These 5K and 15K
runs draw over 3,000 participants. Other activities sponsored
by the Peachtree City Running Club include a Kid's Fun Run
and weekly training runs.
Is
biking your love? Bicycles Unlimited organizes bike rides
around the area. These rides are open to the public and
are a sure-fire way to blend exercise and family fun.
Once
again, you'll agree that you're living in the right place
if you enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Parks, lakes, ponds,
playgrounds, tennis courts, golf courses and other recreational
facilities abound in the area. The Fayette County and Coweta
County Recreation Departments offer a variety of programs
such as adult flag football, basketball and softball, that
are bound to include something that will excite you.
